S/S CHINA BEAR and S/S PHILIPPINE BEAR

Contribute of Radio Officer Riccardo MEMEO now PA5MX

Just a couple of weeks ago, sifting through my “professional memories”, I had in my hands a pilot chart of the North Atlantic of June 1964 on the back of which there is an interesting article with photos of the radio stations installed on the S / S Philippine Bear and S / S China Bear, two ships of the Far East Pacific Line of San Francisco of 13,000 tons. entered service in 1960. These radio stations were certainly at the forefront for those times, both for the number of installed devices and for the operating possibilities offered. The pilot chart is however large, so I tried to take pictures of the interesting parts, as I do not have professional scanners of that size, the quality of the photos was not very satisfying anyway I have done my best.
