Alessandro SANTUCCI (Italy)
Born in Rome in 1956, I was fascinated by Radio transmission since I was a child, receiving IAR- Roma Radio telephone service in short waves.
In 1973 was Ham licensed and immediately CW was the only mode I used as I was a no money student and a CW TX with a Geloso VFO 4/102 was my only TX (QRP).
In 1978 I met Giancarlo I0XXR (Chas) that showed the “Bug” he owned and it was my “bug flash” and slowly I stated I would get one of them, but only later, around 2000 year as the Internet world was open, I was able to get my first Vibro Lightning bug.
Some years ago I was able to get the exact bug Chas used: the Lionel J36 from a Signal Corp ex op. and now it isthe CW key I use everytime.
I’m also an homebrewer and QRP’er and so use quite only homemade equipment and antennas, and very often just few W to contact my friends. When I need CW chat for a while I also use the QRO…hi just about 40/50W out and so the game is OK for me.
The sea Radio services are something special for me and when I have QSO with a /mm station or listen one of the few, still active, maritime stations doing their radio traffic, it is a pleasure and some magic and romantic view is in my mind while I’m receiving the weak signal from them.
Amateur callsign I5SKK.
