Marine Radio – Radiotelephone system SKANTI TR400

On several ships equipped with radiotelephony only (less than 1600 GRT) the SKANTI TR400 was a very popular installation, this equipment was composed by a power supply down on the base, the R400 receiver (in the middle) and a 400 Watts Pep transmitter – model T400 – on the top. The equipment was able to work on Medium Waves and on Short Waves from 4 MHz up to 25 MHz (marine bands only). The receiver could have maximum 30 spot channels on MW (1605.0 – 4000.0 kHz) and 8 spot frequencies in each of the seven HF bands except the 6 and 25 MHz bands where four spot frequencies were provided. Modes were A3, A3H, A3A and A3J.

The trasmitter was able to run 400 Watts Pep with the possibility to reduce the output down to 60 Watts. It could have maximum 20 spot channels on MW (1605.0 – 4000.0 kHz) and 8 spot frequencies in each of the seven HF bands except the 6 and 25 MHz bands where four spot frequencies were provided. Modes were A3H, A3A and A3J all in upper side band, on 2182 kHz A3H only.
