Pietro APRILE (Italy)

In 1977, after having served my Country in the Navy, my adventure on merchant ships began by embarking as Radio Officer after having obtained the First Class International License of Radiotelegraphist Operator in Rome. My adventure begins on the ships of the Navigazione Alta Italia (NAI) where I stayed until 1985 and where I made my first embark as Second Radio Officer, in 1985 the NAI fired us all and I entered with ALMARE Shipping Company where after ten years of navigation I passed First Radio Officer. After ALMARE for a short period I sailed with MORFINI, a small shipping company of Bari but after brief time I passed with the PREMUDA Company and I made the first period on board the M/T “CAPO AMARANTO” which was a small LNG carrier, immediately afterwards I am back to deep sea ships so I embark on M/V “FRAMURA” where I followed the outfitting and then I left for long voyages. The year 1999 arrives and PREMUDA fired us all, we were no longer needed because the GMDSS replaced us, however after the dismission I found a new embark on the M/V ALMARE NONA as First Radio Officer  GMDSS dedicated immediately after I was embarked on ships of the Company D ‘AMICO of Rome with same assignment   and the last nine years with the MESSINA LINE of Genova always as First Radio Officer GMDSS dedicated and the last three years always as First Radio Officer (GMDSS dedicated) but with other duties, at first I was AMOS D instructor (scheduled maintenance system) and at the same time I had accounting mandates and port practices, in 2011, when I reached the requisites, I retired. Today a good memory of everything, my only regret is that our job has not continued unfortunately what happens that technology destroys jobs no longer amazes me, a warm greeting 73 va ct ar
