Marine Receiver – Redifon R50M

All-wave receiver Redifon R50M, the R50M was launched in 1955 by the then London-based company Redifon Ltd.. It offered the operating modes A1 and AM and covered the frequency range from 13 kHz to 32 MHz (without the range between 26 and 95 kHz) in 8 sub-ranges. The subranges were: 13 – 26 kHz, 95 – 250 kHz, 240 – 600 kHz, 585 – 1550 kHz, 1.4 – 4 MHz, 3.8 – 8 MHz, 7.7 – 16 MHz and 15.5 – 32 MHz.
The superhet (I.F. = 465 kHz, while I.F. = 110 kHz in the lowest and in the range 240-600 kHz). It was equipped with 12 tubes: five EF39, two EB 34, two EF37 and one each ECH35, L63 and 6V6G.
A controllable BFO was available, a speaker was not installed. The power supply for operation at 100 – 125V ~ or 200 – 250V ~ was mounted in a separate housing and required two more tubes: A 5Z4G as a rectifier and a S130 as a stabilizer. Widely employed in the Navy and Merchant Marine communications.
