Marine Radio – Elektrisk Bureau EB 1500

Article by Radio Officer Riccardo Memeo (The Netherlands)

I like to remember a very good HF transmitter that I have had on the M/V General Guisan/HBFS in 1987, it was the Elektrisk Bureau EB 1500 with automatic tuning and an output of 1500W, a very powerful transmitter. Unfortunately I don’t remember all the  technical specifications of the equipment. Its associated console was very nicely designed. The main HF receiver usually mounted in the console was the ITT Mackay 3020A, but on the General Guisan the main Rx was the Collins 651S-1, also a very good receiver. The foto of the complete installation of the EB 1500 shows also the fully synthesized reserve transmitter Orion that I have never used. Further there is a foto of the advertisement by Electro-Nav for the Electrisk Bureau console.
