INORC Special Event Station – Ship “OLTERRA” WWII

On the program of autumnal radio activities, the INORC on the 60th anniversary of the demolition remembers the tanker OLTERRA c/s IBFL semi-sunk, in order not to be captured, in the Spanish port of Algeciras at the beginning of World War II it was used by Italian divers as an operational base to conduct their attacks on enemy shipping and the Royal Navy base in Gibraltar. Instead of oil, its tanks were packed with slow-moving torpedoes better known as “pigs”. The commemoration will begin at 00:00 UTC on 25 October 2021 until 11.59 pm on Sunday 31 October. The special call will be used for the call: “II1IBFL 60 OLTERRA“. There will also be a Jolly Station the INORC IQ1NM  and those of the INORC Club members. The frequency bands used are those provided by the ITU Band Plan. The OMs who will contact us they needen’t to send their qsl postcards while it is necessary to send the Log to secretary@inorc.it  , for those who intend to receive the Award which will be sent in Pdf format.
